forward: series,
2026 - ongoing

In the course of our conversations with artists, we often discover that behind each self-initiated project lies a set of underlying questions—questions that propel a sequence of creative actions: exploration, trial and error, grounding, making, and presentation. At cc’ed, we believe that these questions, immersed deep within the artistic mind, are themselves vital threads of inquiry worthy of attention and reflection.

Beyond the final presentation of works, we seek to shift focus toward artistic intention and modes of reception. By weaving a more layered discursive context, we hope to open up multiple ways of seeing and interpreting, drawing tighter connections between artists and communities, and between works and their audiences. Perhaps we may come to realise that those moments of seeming opacity—the points that resist immediate understanding—are in fact needle-like provocations, piercing the very beginnings of our imagination and comprehension.

The forward: series by cc’ed unfolds across three stages—before, during, and after—centering on projects independently initiated by local artists:

forward: foreword (before)
Artists are invited to share one to three questions in relation to the work they are about to present. These questions may be directed toward art itself, the self, the audience, or elsewhere. Prior to the presentation, these questions will be published on Instagram as points of entry.

presentation and viewing (during)

forward: afterword (after)
Following the presentation, cc’ed will either write or invite audience members to contribute reflections as responses to the work. Audiences and artists are also encouraged to share any related materials—other artworks, texts, films, and so on—that resonate or extend the work’s associations. These contributions will be gathered as afterwords, appendices, annotations, or supplementary extensions, further expanding the imaginative and interpretive field of the work.
